Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Acharya Anand ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects your personal data when you use readmypast.com (the "Site") — including the free "read your past" chart reading and any paid one-to-one consultation you book. We are committed to handling your data lawfully, fairly, and transparently, in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the "DPDP Act") and other applicable laws.
Acharya Anand is the operator of the Site and acts as the Data Fiduciary for the personal data processed through it. By using the Site or submitting your details, you confirm that you have read and understood this Policy. Please read it together with our Terms & Conditions and our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

What personal data we collect
We collect only the data we need to compute your chart, deliver your reading or consultation, and stay in touch with you. This includes:
- Identity and contact details: your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, and country or city (for scheduling and time-zone purposes).
- Birth details: your date of birth, time of birth, and place of birth. We convert your place of birth into geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) to calculate your chart accurately.
- Life-event details you choose to share: any information about events in your past or present that you voluntarily provide — for example, when confirming whether a reading matches your life, or when describing what you would like to discuss in a consultation.
- Booking and payment information: details related to the session you book (such as session length and chosen time). Card numbers and bank details are entered directly with our payment processor; we do not see or store your full card or bank details.
- Communications: the content of messages you send us by email, WhatsApp, or chat, and our replies.
- Basic technical data: limited information your browser sends when you load the Site, such as your IP address and device or browser type, used for security and to keep the Site working.
Sensitive data
We treat your birth details (date, time, and place of birth) and any life-event details you share as sensitive personal data. We handle this information with extra care, restrict access to it, and use it only for the purposes described in this Policy. Please share only what you are comfortable sharing — you should not provide health, financial, or other deeply personal specifics beyond what is needed for your reading or consultation.
Why we collect it and our legal basis
Under the DPDP Act, we process your personal data on the basis of your consent and, where applicable, to perform the service you have requested. Specifically, we use your data to:
- Compute your Vedic astrology chart (including your dashā timeline and natal chart) using your birth details and derived coordinates.
- Generate and deliver your free "read your past" reading.
- Deliver any paid one-to-one consultation you book, online via live chat, audio call, or video call.
- Schedule, confirm, reschedule, or cancel sessions, and process related payments and refunds.
- Respond to your questions and provide customer support.
- Send you service-related messages (for example, booking confirmations or reminders).
- Keep the Site secure, prevent misuse, and meet our legal and accounting obligations.
We will only send you marketing or promotional messages if you have agreed to receive them, and you can opt out at any time. Our readings and consultations are offered as interpretive guidance and reflection; they are not a substitute for professional medical, legal, financial, or psychological advice.
How your consent works
When you submit your details, you give us your consent — freely, specifically, and for the purposes set out above. Your consent is informed and you can withdraw it at any time by contacting privacy@readmypast.com. Withdrawing consent will not affect any processing already carried out before withdrawal, and it may mean we can no longer provide certain services to you. Where you provide another person's data, you confirm you are authorised to do so.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with trusted service providers (Data Processors) who help us run the Site and deliver our services, and only to the extent needed. These include:
- VedicSpace astrology engine: our chart-calculation engine, which receives your birth details and derived coordinates to compute your chart.
- Razorpay: our payment gateway, which securely processes your payments and any refunds. Razorpay handles your payment-card and banking information under its own privacy and security standards.
- Email / SMTP provider: used to send service emails such as confirmations, reminders, and replies.
- Hosting provider: our web host, where the Site and its data are stored.
These providers are required to protect your data and use it only to provide their service to us. We may also disclose your data where required by law, by a court, or by a competent authority, or to protect our legal rights, safety, or the rights and safety of others.
Cross-border data transfers
Some of our service providers may store or process data on servers located outside India. Where your data is transferred across borders, we take reasonable steps to ensure it remains protected and that the transfer complies with the DPDP Act and any restrictions notified by the Government of India. By using the Site, you understand that your data may be processed in this way.
How long we keep your data
We keep your personal data only for as long as needed for the purposes described here, or as required by law. In practice:
- Computed chart data may be cached for a limited period (typically up to 30 days) to speed up your experience and avoid re-computation.
- Booking, payment, and invoice records are kept as long as needed to meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
- Contact and consultation records are kept while you remain in touch with us or as needed to support follow-up sessions, after which we delete or anonymise them.
When data is no longer needed, we delete it securely or remove the details that identify you. You can also ask us to erase your data, as described below.
How we protect your data
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, or alteration. These include encrypted connections for data in transit, access controls that limit who can see sensitive data, keeping payment and login secrets on the server only (never in our code or shared in chat), and storing configuration secrets outside the public web folder. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your information and to address any issues promptly. If a personal data breach occurs that affects you, we will act in line with our obligations under the DPDP Act.
Your rights
Under the DPDP Act, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to access: ask for a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we process it.
- Right to correction: ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data, or update outdated data.
- Right to erasure: ask us to delete your personal data where it is no longer needed or where you withdraw consent, subject to any legal retention requirements.
- Right to withdraw consent: withdraw your consent to processing at any time, as easily as you gave it.
- Right of grievance redressal: raise a complaint with us about how we handle your data, and receive a response.
- Right to nominate: nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of your death or incapacity.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@readmypast.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request, and we will respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate your complaint to the Data Protection Board of India.
Cookies and analytics
At launch, the Site uses only the cookies or local storage strictly necessary for it to function (for example, to remember your progress through the reading). We do not use third-party advertising or tracking pixels at launch. We may add privacy-respecting analytics in the future to understand how the Site is used and improve it; if we do, we will update this Policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.
Children
Our services are intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Please do not submit a minor's details (including birth details) without verifiable consent from the child's parent or legal guardian. If you believe we have inadvertently collected a child's data without proper consent, contact privacy@readmypast.com and we will delete it.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or in the law. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, take reasonable steps to notify you. Please review this page periodically.
